Lyric – Mountain

Curated By Ralph

"The Road Not Taken" is a source of inspiration for me, because it encourages me to seize opportunities and chart my own course in life.

When I tell my body it is loved But remove myself from the narrative, It's not quite sure
who we are trying to convince. My body asks, "Joan, why be a trophy When you can be a mountain?" Memorialize the magic. Show the babies how it's done, How once the baby fat grows into glory, It's both misfortune and a miracle, Both menacing and medicinal. But who wouldn't want
to capture all this cure? It's a redemption song, an honesty poem, An altar call, and the baptism, How it swallows the unholy, Hopes they don't notice the tears
and toxins in the water. This body still prays to be holy water And hopes that this will make it whole. Asks that you put
some respect on its name. Call it by its proper pronoun– "I." Because when you talk about a thing
like it don't belong to you, It appears to be up for the taking, Easily shaken, replaceable and removed. But Joan, aren't you a mountain? And don't it take one hell of a force
to make a mountain move? (cheers and applause)
