Gemini That summer we slept on a Navy hammock In the Bee Garden and ripped pink bongs Out of Sephora bags under an ivy canopy Of emerald trees We nicknamed our classmates after Pokemon and unfolded plastic lawn chairs To sit and watch the blood moon clot We sketched a catalog of wild Midwestern Mushrooms and sipped pouches of sweet Vodka limeade until our tongues pickled Into something worth sharing You lifted your peach dress and offered Me the red grid of fresh cuts on your Upper thighs I painted yellow sunflowers over your Soon-to-be scars Sweetly and gently until the acrylics Began to sting your skin We charged your Crystal collection under The clipped fingernail of the gray Moon And spoke nothing of the ways we have Both tried to claw ourselves out of our Bodies Instead we sang Only of the joys the Pastel weekends and the good things that Must live in a place we haven't been to Yet
